Evan Wells to Receive AIAS Hall of Fame Honor

The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences has revealed that Evan Wells, the former co-president of Naughty Dog, will be inducted into its Hall of Fame during the upcoming DICE Awards. With a career spanning over three decades, Wells has made significant contributions to the gaming industry. He began as a designer on ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron and later joined Crystal Dynamics, where he worked on Gex and Gex: Enter the Gecko. Wells joined Naughty Dog in 1998 and played a key role in the development of several PS1 and PS2 titles, including Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped and Jak and Daxter. In 2005, he became co-president of Naughty Dog, overseeing the production of iconic franchises such as Uncharted and The Last of Us. Following his retirement in 2023, after 25 years at Naughty Dog, Wells will be presented with the AIAS Hall of Fame award by Neil Druckmann, the studio head and head of creative at Naughty Dog. According to AIAS president Meggan Scavio, "Evan Wells is being recognized for his exceptional leadership and profound impact on the gaming industry." Druckmann also praised Wells, stating, "Evan's unwavering leadership and trust in his team enabled Naughty Dog to create incredible games that have left a lasting mark on the industry." The AIAS Hall of Fame award is given to individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of influential games and the advancement of entire genres. Previous recipients include Ted Price, Koji Kondo, Tim Schafer, Ed Boon, and Connie Booth. The 29th annual DICE Awards will take place on February 16 at the Aria Resort in Las Vegas.
