Developer of Splitgate: Arena Reloaded Claims Steam Player Statistics Only Tell Part of the Story

The team behind Splitgate: Arena Reloaded, 1047 Games, has addressed concerns about the game's performance on Steam, arguing that the current statistics do not provide a complete picture of the game's success. Within its first five days, the game attracted 150,000 players, with the developer boasting about its retention rates being the best they have ever been. Splitgate: Arena Reloaded is a revamped version of Splitgate 2, which was initially released in June 2025 but later put back into beta due to a less-than-ideal launch. The free-to-play shooter was re-released on December 17 and initially peaked at 2,293 concurrent players on Steam, according to SteamDB data. However, this number quickly declined, with only 556 players currently active on the platform and a 24-hour peak of 1,070 players. In comparison, the original Splitgate 2 reached a high of 25,785 concurrent players on Steam when it first launched. In a statement, the studio emphasized that Steam Charts only show a limited view of the game's performance, stating, 'They show one number, on one platform, at one given moment. They don't show the full picture or what it feels like to actually play, and they definitely don't capture the community that's actively helping shape what Arena Reloaded is becoming.' The developer expressed its commitment to delivering the best version of Splitgate possible and thanked its community for their feedback and passion. Regarding the game's console performance, Alinea Analytics reported that Splitgate: Arena Reloaded briefly reached 50,000 daily active users across Xbox and PlayStation after its release, with decent retention in its first week. However, since then, the game's audience on console platforms has dropped significantly, failing to surpass 15,000 daily active users. Most players were found to be returning from Splitgate 2, with the game struggling to attract new players. The original Splitgate was first released in May 2019 in Steam Early Access and officially launched in September 2022, with its sequel launching in June 2025. Following the release of Splitgate 2, 1047 Games underwent a round of layoffs to '[redirect] resources to build the best game for our players,' and later announced a second wave of job cuts as it brought Splitgate 2 'back to beta.'
