US PlayStation Gaming Trends Remain Steady in 2025, Reveals Circana

The top five most-played PlayStation 5 games in the US during 2025 showed no change from the previous year, with Fortnite holding the number one position. According to Circana's player engagement tracker, Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto 5, Roblox, and Minecraft followed closely. The same lineup was observed in the Xbox top five most-played games for 2025, although Call of Duty took the top spot, surpassing Fortnite. During the week ending December 27th, nearly a third of all US gamers who played on PlayStation or Xbox played Fortnite at least once. Fortnite dominated the charts for both PlayStation and Xbox, while Embark Studios' Arc Raiders secured the top position on Steam. As of January 5, Arc Raiders had sold over 7 million copies on Steam, as reported by Alinea Analytics. Notably, more than 18% of Arc Raiders players on Steam have logged over 100 hours of gameplay, with 0.25% exceeding 500 hours - a figure that increased during the holiday season. Alinea Analytics also found that approximately 26% of Arc Raiders players on Steam also played Helldivers 2. The crossover between games was higher among PS5 players, at 40%, and lower for Xbox players, at 21%. Overall, Arc Raiders has sold over 12 million copies and attracted 3.2 million daily active users across all platforms, according to recent estimates from Alinea Analytics.
