Kinetic Publishing Emerges to Empower Indie Game Developers
The success of Phasmophobia has enabled its developer, Daniel Knight, to launch Kinetic Publishing, a new venture designed to support and nurture independent game developers. Knight's vision for Kinetic Publishing is to provide the kind of guidance and resources he wished he had when he was starting out, with a focus on championing creativity within the indie space. The publisher is now open to pitches from unsigned games around 12-18 months away from release, with a view to backing two to three projects annually. Kinetic Publishing's approach is centered on offering a high level of support, including financial backing of up to £1 million, as well as expertise in areas such as marketing, community building, and game development. The team, which includes director of marketing and partnerships Asim Tanvir, brings a wealth of experience from the gaming industry, having worked with major publishers like 2K, Konami, and Zynga. Kinetic Publishing's independence, with no external investors or shareholders, allows it to maintain control over its decisions and timelines, enabling it to offer a more flexible and supportive partnership for indie developers. The publisher is committed to providing creative freedom, recognizing that the developers themselves are best placed to drive their projects forward. With a strong foundation in cooperative horror, courtesy of Phasmophobia, Kinetic Publishing is open to supporting games across a wide range of genres, from cozy titles to RPGs. The team's goal is to empower indie developers, sharing their knowledge and experience to help these studios achieve success and grow within the industry.
