Kinetic Publishing Emerges to Foster Innovation in Indie Game Development

Following the massive success of Phasmophobia, which has sold over 25 million copies and is being adapted into a Hollywood film, creator Daniel Knight is expanding his studio, Kinetic Games, to launch Kinetic Publishing. This new venture aims to support and empower indie game developers by providing the kind of guidance and resources Knight wished he had when he first started out. To lead this effort, Knight has hired Asim Tanvir, a seasoned director of marketing and partnerships with 15 years of experience at major publishers like 2K, Konami, and Zynga. Kinetic Publishing is currently looking for unsigned games that are about 12-18 months away from release, with a focus on championing creativity and innovation within the indie space. The publisher is open to projects from around the world, across various genres, and is committed to giving the teams it supports the attention and resources they need to succeed. With no external investors or shareholders, Kinetic Publishing operates independently, allowing it to make its own decisions and set its own timelines. The team is well-funded, thanks to the commercial success of Phasmophobia, and is prepared to finance projects with budgets ranging from a few hundred thousand pounds to £1 million, depending on the specific needs of each game. Knight and Tanvir emphasize that their goal is to empower developers, not dictate their creative vision. By sharing their firsthand experience and expertise, they hope to help indie studios navigate the challenges of game development, publishing, and release. With a focus on creative freedom, Kinetic Publishing is poised to make a positive impact on the indie gaming community.
