Steam Achieves New Milestone in Concurrent Users
Valve's digital distribution platform, Steam, has broken its own record for the most concurrent users. According to data from SteamDB, a Steam tracker, the platform saw over 42 million users online simultaneously on January 11, surpassing its previous record of 41,816,052 users set two months ago. At the time of the record, 13,119,473 users were actively engaged in gameplay. In contrast, Roblox reached a peak of around 68 million concurrent players during the summer of 2024. This news comes as we released an interview with GOG's new owner, Michał Kiciński, and managing director, Maciej Gołębiewski, discussing their strategy to compete with Steam and their stance on DRM.
