Ubisoft Announces Staff Reductions at Swedish Studios Amid Ongoing Cost-Cutting Efforts

Ubisoft has confirmed that it will be eliminating 55 positions at its Swedish-based studios, Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft Stockholm. This decision follows the completion of a voluntary redundancy program initiated last year, which did not yield the desired results, prompting the company to take additional measures to align with its future plans. According to an internal communication, the layoffs are not a reflection on employee performance, and the studios' long-term strategy remains unchanged. Massive Entertainment will continue working on The Division franchise, including the development of The Division 3 and the Survivors game mode for The Division 2. The studio is also involved in an innovative, unannounced tech project and will play a key role in the development of the Snowdrop game engine and Ubisoft Connect. This round of layoffs is the company's second this year, following the closure of its Halifax mobile studio and the announced job cuts at RedLynx.
