Amazon Gives the Green Light to a Reality TV Show Based on Fallout Shelter
Amazon MGM Studios has officially commissioned a reality competition series inspired by the popular Fallout franchise, set to premiere on Prime Video. The show, titled Fallout Shelter, will drop contestants into the role of Vault dwellers, where they will face off in a series of escalating challenges, strategic dilemmas, and moral quandaries, all in pursuit of a cash prize. This ten-episode series is a collaborative effort between Kilter Films, the producer behind the Fallout series, and Studio Lambert, known for their work on The Traitors and Squid Game: The Challenge. The casting call is currently open to individuals aged 21 and above, with a deadline of February 15, 2026, and filming is slated to commence in June 2026 for a three-week period. According to Amazon, Fallout Shelter aims to stay true to the spirit of the Fallout franchise, blending large-scale challenges with deeply social, psychological, and narrative-driven gameplay. The show's title is derived from the free-to-play management simulation game of the same name, initially released in 2015, which has since garnered over 230 million downloads across various platforms, including iOS, Android, Windows, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4. The Fallout franchise experienced a significant surge in engagement and sales following the premiere of its latest TV season. Amazon has also renewed its Fallout adaptation for a third season, which was announced in May 2025, with the first series having premiered in April 2024.
