Tencent-Backed Podcast Good Game Club Launches at Davos, Exploring Gaming's Social Impact
Veteran gaming industry expert Jude Ower has unveiled a new podcast, the Good Game Club, in collaboration with Tencent, at the prestigious Davos conference. The podcast aims to delve into the potential of video games to exert a positive influence on society. Hosted by Ower and industry commentator Mathias Gredal Norvig, the show is set to feature a range of prominent guests, including Bastian Bergmann, David Barrie, Maria Sayans, Dr. Mick Donegan, and Kirsty Rigden. Ower emphasized the significance of gaming as a platform for driving social change, stating that it has the potential to unite diverse cultures and communities, fostering essential life skills such as collaboration, leadership, and problem-solving. Tencent's support for the podcast stems from a shared conviction that healthy gaming practices can be a global force for progress. The company's head of public affairs, Danny Marti, highlighted the medium's ability to unite people worldwide, promoting meaningful learning, wellbeing, and a sense of belonging. Ower's passion for harnessing the power of gaming for social good dates back to 2007, when she founded Playmob, a company that aimed to create a better world through gaming. The company was later acquired by PlanetPlay in 2024.
