Resident Evil Requiem Leads US February Sales, Outpacing Village by 60%

Resident Evil Requiem made a strong debut as the top-selling game in the US for 2026, claiming the number one spot in Circana's February rankings across various platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Its launch sales were 60% higher than those of Resident Evil Village, with unit sales increasing by over 40% when excluding bundled versions. The Resident Evil Generation Pack for Switch 2, which includes Resident Evil 7, Village, and Requiem, debuted at number 20. Other new titles that entered Circana's Top 20 for February include Mario Tennis Fever, God of War: Sons of Sparta, My Hero Academia: All's Justice, and Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, with the latter securing the 14th spot as the best-selling game of 2026. On the mobile front, Monopoly Go took the top spot, pushing Royal Match to second place, while Pokémon Go saw a significant rise, breaking back into the top ten with 61% revenue growth month-over-month. According to Sensor Tower's Bryan Isagholian, Pokémon Go's resurgence is likely due to the Road to Kalos event, which will continue to drive daily revenue into early March. The US video game market generated $4.6 billion in February, with content spending reaching $4 billion, both experiencing flat year-on-year growth. However, non-subscription sales saw a 27% increase, and the success of Requiem contributed to this growth. Hardware sales grew 22% year on year to $326 million, with Switch 2 sales offsetting declines in PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles, although PS5 maintained its lead in the hardware market in terms of unit and dollar sales. The Switch 2 secured the second spot, and after nine months on the market, its life-to-date install base is 45% higher than the original Switch.
