Minecraft Unveils Groundbreaking Theme Park Venture with Merlin Entertainments
In a historic collaboration, Mojang has joined forces with Merlin Entertainments to create the world's inaugural Minecraft theme park, slated to open in the UK at a cost of approximately $67 million. Minecraft World, set to debut at Chessington World of Adventures in 2027, promises an unparalleled adventure featuring a bespoke Minecraft rollercoaster, the largest Minecraft store globally, themed cuisine, and encounters with beloved characters. Merlin Entertainments describes this project as one of its most ambitious theme park endeavors in recent years, with a focus on crafting an environment that embodies the essence of Minecraft. According to Torfi Frans Ólafsson, senior creative director of entertainment at Minecraft, 'Minecraft World marks a significant milestone in our ongoing pursuit to expand the Minecraft universe.' He expressed enthusiasm for the partnership with Merlin Entertainments, stating, 'We're excited to bring to life a space where fans can immerse themselves in the Minecraft Overworld and enjoy an adventure with family and friends.' This development follows Nintendo's successful partnership with Universal to launch Super Nintendo World theme parks across its Japanese, Floridian, and Californian resorts.
