The Mobile Gaming Industry

The gaming industry is currently divided over the use of generative AI. While some see it as a means to create games more quickly and explore new possibilities, others are concerned about its reliability and potential impact on jobs. However, in the mobile gaming space, AI has been quietly accepted for years. According to Hendrik Klindworth, chairman of InnoGames, the company is "positive about the opportunities of AI" and uses it to create games that would not have been possible before. Klindworth emphasizes that people are always involved in the process and that AI is used to support the creative process, rather than replace workers. InnoGames plans to use AI to create more content with the same number of employees, particularly in live-ops within games. The company has seen success with strategy titles like Forge of Empires and Heroes of History, and its latest game, Cozy Coast, is a departure from its usual titles, aimed at the casual audience. Klindworth believes that companies should adapt to meet the challenges of a red ocean market and that there is no room for inefficiency. He also emphasizes the importance of giving development teams autonomy and encouraging knowledge sharing between different teams.
