Nintendo Announces Discontinuation of Switch Game Voucher Program
The Nintendo Switch Game Voucher service is being phased out by the gaming giant. As of January 30, 2026, at 11:59 pm, it will no longer be possible to buy Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers, according to Nintendo. Game vouchers for the Nintendo Switch are a benefit of membership in the Nintendo Switch Online program. They are sold in pairs and can be redeemed for eligible games in the eShop, allowing Switch Online subscribers to purchase premium games at a lower price. Although Nintendo did not provide a reason for ending the program, the company expressed gratitude to players for participating in the Nintendo Switch Online service and reminded them that all unused vouchers will expire 12 months after purchase. This means that Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers bought on January 30, 2026, will still be valid until January 30, 2027, after which all vouchers will have expired. It was already known that the vouchers are not valid for Switch 2 games, but Nintendo revealed that even though the voucher program is ending, new Switch titles will continue to be added to the Game Voucher catalog throughout 2026. Earlier in the week, Nintendo addressed concerns about the Switch 2's high price, supply and demand, and issues with Game-Key Cards.
