Twin Sails Interactive Sets Sights on Long-Term Growth After Asmodee Split

Following its recent spin-off from the Asmodee Group, Twin Sails Interactive is charting a new course under the leadership of CEO Nicolas Godement. The publisher aims to establish a robust platform for independent developers, leveraging AAA strategies to foster long-term growth and sustainability. Godement notes that the traditional model of chasing the next big hit can be detrimental to a studio's longevity. Instead, he advocates for building upon existing successes, analyzing what works, and cultivating a loyal audience through continued content creation. The goal is to nurture a lineup of beloved brands, thereby establishing a stable and resilient business. To achieve this, Twin Sails is seeking to acquire new games and existing IPs with untapped potential, with a focus on re-igniting stagnant franchises and providing new content, updates, or sequels to revitalize dormant communities. Godement emphasizes the importance of taking a long-term view, assessing whether a game has the potential to maintain player interest beyond the initial experience. If so, Twin Sails is willing to invest in that future, with the aim of having four to six titles in its portfolio annually, and a significant portion of those evolving into long-term operations. To achieve this, the publisher is drawing inspiration from AAA companies, which have successfully built and sustained brands over decades. Godement wants to work closely with signed studios to identify the unique selling points of their games and develop a solid creative foundation, complete with lore books, visual art bibles, and a long-term roadmap for content development. The first step will typically involve live operations, including updates, DLC, and new features. However, in some cases, new content may be better suited for a follow-up game. The key is to factor in player and critical reception, adjusting the multi-year roadmap to ensure the game and brand continue to evolve and thrive. This approach, according to Godement, will differentiate Twin Sails from other mid-sized publishers. By focusing on building brands that players return to, the publisher aims to establish a unique identity in a crowded market, whether through specialization in a particular genre, a distinctive tone of voice, or a dedicated audience.
