Humble Bundle's 2024 Funding Allocation: A Focus on Gaming Industry Charities

Humble Bundle has released its latest social impact report, revealing that it raised $12.4 million for various causes in 2024. The organization's focus areas include health and well-being, crisis and disaster relief, equity and opportunity, quality education, and climate change and sustainability. In total, Humble supported 4,500 charities throughout the year. Since its first bundle launched in 2010, Humble has raised over $266 million. The company's social impact report highlights the far-reaching effects of its fundraising efforts. In the gaming industry, Humble partners with charities that promote diversity, equity, and opportunity. For instance, only 24% of game developers in the US are women, despite women making up almost 50% of the gaming market. To address this disparity, Humble supports organizations like the Girls Make Games Scholarship Fund, XPerience Studios, and The ESA Foundation. The Girls Make Games Scholarship Fund provides workshops and camps for girls to prepare them for careers in game development. Humble's funding has enabled the organization to offer comprehensive college scholarships, summer camp scholarships, and workshop scholarships for students worldwide. XPerience Studios, meanwhile, aims to uplift minority developers through acceleration grant programs and mentorship. Humble's funding has helped XPerience launch the XP Fund, which provides resources and guidance to underrepresented indie developers. The ESA Foundation has also received support from Humble, with funding for scholarships, career development webinars, and laptops for underrepresented groups. Humble's efforts have created equitable opportunities for communities that have historically lacked them, enabling them to build skills and secure funds for their projects. The company has also partnered with organizations focused on mental health in gaming, such as Safe In Our World, Take This, and Crisis Text Line. Humble's collaboration with Safe In Our World has addressed industry-specific mental health challenges, including those caused by studio closures and layoffs. The company has also supported the creation of a Global Mental Health Accreditation scheme, launching in spring 2025. Take This, a nonprofit organization, has received funding from Humble to continue hosting AFK quiet rooms at gaming events. Crisis Text Line has also partnered with Humble to launch a resource hub and co-branded text line, offering confidential support to those in need. Humble has also worked with Child's Play to provide games for therapeutic purposes in hospitals and supported the expansion of Special Effect, an accessibility specialist charity. The company's funding has enabled Special Effect to hire additional staff, deliver bespoke assistive controllers, and launch accessible mobile apps. According to Kamini Tiwari, VP of Social Impact at Humble Bundle, "Literacy- and tech-related charities are vital, as they directly support the advancement of our society." Humble's impact extends to the book industry, where it supports organizations like the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund and literacy programs like Room to Read and First Book. In software, Humble's goals mirror those in the gaming industry, supporting charities that promote engineering-related education for underrepresented groups. The company has partnered with Girls Who Code to offer free access to after-school clubs and has backed the Hidden Genius Project, which trains and mentors Black male youth in technology creation and leadership skills. Humble's funding has also extended to disaster response, recovery, and resilience building charities, with $1.2 million raised in 2024. Additionally, $2.3 million was raised for disease prevention, research, and cures, while 4,577,744 meals were provided. Humble's efforts demonstrate the company's commitment to creating a positive impact in the world. As Tiwari says, "We're immensely grateful to our community and partners for coming together to make a real and lasting difference."
