Epic Layoffs: Dedicated Portal Launched for Recruiters to Connect with Affected Staff
Following Epic's significant job cuts, a public Google Sheet detailing affected individuals has been transformed into a dedicated, searchable website to facilitate connections between recruiters and available personnel. The platform currently features over 320 individuals. Initially, a public Google Docs spreadsheet containing nearly 500 entries was converted into this dedicated site using the Replit AI web development platform. The original spreadsheet now includes a list of additional developers seeking employment, reflecting the ongoing challenges of layoffs and studio closures within the gaming industry. In a separate development, Epic CEO Tim Sweeney has intervened in the case of a laid-off employee who was set to lose access to treatment for terminal brain cancer. After the employee's wife publicly shared the situation, prompting a strong reaction from the Fortnite community, Sweeney announced on X that Epic is in touch with the family and will resolve their insurance issues, emphasizing that medical information confidentiality was maintained and this factor did not influence the layoff decision.
