Reviving the Spirit of E3 in LA: A New Beginning

The recent week in LA was a promising start, with strong announcements, engaging games, and well-organized showcases. However, the success of these events ultimately depends on the lineup of games. Geoff Keighley's Summer Games Fest showcase was well-received, with good pacing, a strong opening message, and decent variety. Nevertheless, it lacked the wow factor to make it a memorable event. PlayStation's lineup was somewhat underwhelming, with Astro Bot, Concord, and LEGO Horizon Adventures being the main attractions. Xbox, on the other hand, had a massive show with major reveals, including blockbuster brands and new IP. Ubisoft also had an event, focusing on its immediate lineup, including Star Wars Outlaws and Assassin's Creed Shadows. IGN Live was a dedicated fan event with interesting presentations, and it did a good job considering it was put together in just a few months. The overall atmosphere was not as blockbuster-laden as previous E3 events, but there were still notable games being presented, including Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, and Monster Hunter. The industry needs to work together to create something new and exciting. With a stronger release slate, more business elements, and better coordination, it's possible to have something similar to E3 in the future. The various events, including Summer Games Fest, Play Days, Xbox Games Showcase, and IGN Live, need to collaborate and support each other to create a successful and cohesive experience. As Rob Matthews, former Xbox exec, said, the industry is all about working together for the bigger cause of video games. With a bit of collaboration and coordination, it's possible to revive the spirit of E3 and create something new and exciting.
