UK February Charts: Helldivers 2 Takes the Lead
The UK video game market saw a decline of 5.5% in February, with 2.77 million games sold. Despite this, Helldivers 2 emerged as the top-selling game, defying expectations with a significant increase in sales over its first three weeks. The game's success can be attributed to its strong performance on both PC and PS5, with 57% of sales coming from the PlayStation platform. In comparison, the game's sales are only 28% lower than those of Sony's Spider-Man 2 during its first three weeks on sale. Warner Bros' Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League debuted at No.4, but failed to meet expectations, with sales 20% lower than those of Gotham Knights and Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. Skull and Bones, meanwhile, had a lackluster launch, with sales 75% lower than those of Sea of Thieves in 2018. Other new releases, such as Persona 3 Reload, Mario vs Donkey Kong, and Pacific Drift, also made their mark on the charts. In the console market, 95,855 units were sold in February, a decline of 33% year-over-year and 13% month-over-month. The PS5 led the market, but saw a 2% decline in sales compared to the previous month. The Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series S and X followed, with significant drops in sales. The accessories market saw 609,425 add-on products sold, with the white DualSense PS5 controller and Robot White Wireless Xbox controller leading the way. Sony's Pulse Elite Premium Headset made a strong debut, ranking No.15 by volume and No.4 by revenue in its first week on sale.
