Empowering Underrepresented Groups: Limit Break's 2026 Mentorship Program Launches
The Limit Break mentorship program for 2026 is now accepting applications from the UK and Irish games industry. Since its inception in 2019 by 1TK Games' Anisa Sanusi, Limit Break has supported over 5,000 participants from more than 400 UK games companies, establishing itself as the UK's largest mentorship program for marginalized individuals in the games industry. The 2026 program, which commences on April 27 and runs for six months until November, is open to anyone in the UK and Ireland currently working in the games industry or seeking to enter it, with a focus on those who identify as part of a marginalized or underrepresented group. New initiatives for the 2026 cohort include a virtual onboarding series, increased in-person networking opportunities, and a dedicated track for those interested in starting a games business. According to Jonas Gawe, Limit Break program manager, the non-profit organization relies heavily on industry passion and corporate sponsorship, and is grateful for the opportunity to continue its work. Gawe emphasizes the importance of Limit Break in helping members build lasting connections, grow, and develop within a supportive community. Despite facing challenges in securing funding, Limit Break has adapted and evolved, streamlining its program to focus on core priorities and creating a more accessible experience for all participants. The organization advises its mentors to speak openly and honestly about their perspectives and experiences, providing resources and community spaces to facilitate discussion and connections. As the program progresses, Gawe notes a growing demand for mentorship in specific areas, such as 3D modeling and animation, and a recent increase in applications from individuals with voice-acting and content-creation backgrounds. Limit Break aims to support the future of the UK games sector by promoting diversity and inclusivity, with the goal of creating an industry led by a diverse set of leaders. The organization remains committed to delivering a resource-efficient and focused program, continually seeking ways to improve and expand its services to provide the best possible experience for its mentors and mentees.
