Coffee Stain Malmö Studio Closes Its Doors
Coffee Stain, the developer behind Goat Simulator, has announced the closure of its Malmö studio, which focused on mobile game development. The studio's VP of mobile, Daniel Persson, shared the news on LinkedIn, stating that his role as team leader has come to an end. Persson reflected on the experience of building the studio from scratch, praising the talented team and expressing pride in their collective achievements. With 17 employees, the fate of the team remains uncertain, and it is unclear whether they will be laid off or reassigned within the Coffee Stain Group. The closure comes after Coffee Stain was spun out from Embracer Group in December, with the company's CEO, Phil Rogers, expressing confidence in Coffee Stain's future as a standalone entity. The Embracer Group has undergone significant restructuring, with plans to split into three entities: Asmodee Group, Coffee Stain Group, and Middle-Earth Enterprises, now known as Fellowship Entertainment.
