Spider-Man 2 Tops UK Physical Charts, Beating Super Mario Bros Wonder
Following a revision due to double counting, Spider-Man 2 has secured the top spot in the UK physical sales charts, surpassing Super Mario Bros Wonder. The PlayStation 5 exclusive saw a strong launch, becoming the second-largest PS5 boxed launch of the year, behind Hogwarts Legacy. Its sales were 27% lower than those of God of War Ragnarok, which had a few extra days on the market. Spider-Man 2 is the fourth-biggest boxed game launch of the year, with sales 29% higher than Spider-Man: Miles Morales and 43% lower than the original Spider-Man. Nintendo's Super Mario Bros Wonder took second place, with sales slightly ahead of New Super Mario Bros Wii, making it the biggest 2D Mario game launch in UK history. The game is expected to have a long sales tail, although its launch sales were 62% lower than Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Sonic Superstars entered the charts at number four, despite launching the same week as Super Mario Bros Wonder. Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged also debuted, at number 32. Pricing promotions boosted sales for Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt GOTY Edition and Mortal Kombat 11, while EA Sports FC 24 and Assassin's Creed Mirage saw significant sales drops.
