Peter Molyneux Returns to His Gaming Roots
It's been ten years since Peter Molyneux's experiment with Curiosity: What's Inside The Cube ended, and he's been reflecting on his past experiences. After facing criticism for his handling of Godus and other games, Molyneux took a step back from the spotlight. However, he's now returning with a newfound focus on coding and a more cautious approach to communicating with the press. Molyneux acknowledges that he made mistakes in the past, such as overhyping features that didn't make it into the final game. He's learned from these experiences and is now taking a more measured approach to game development. His studio, 22cans, is currently working on four projects, including a new update for Godus and a play-to-earn blockchain title called Legacy. One of the new projects is a game codenamed MOAT, which will be released on PC and consoles. Molyneux is excited to work on a game that has a defined beginning, middle, and end, rather than an ongoing live service game. He believes that this approach will allow him to tell a more cohesive story and create a more immersive experience for players. Molyneux is also being more mindful of how he communicates with the press and the public. He's started a blog to share his thoughts and experiences throughout the development process, and he's being more careful about making promises that he may not be able to keep. He wants to counter the notion that everything he says is a promise that will be broken, and instead, focus on sharing his passion for game development and his vision for his upcoming games. As Molyneux looks to the future, he's aware that he doesn't have an infinite number of games left in him. He's decided to focus his energy on MOAT, which he believes will be his last game. He's excited to work on a project that will allow him to return to his roots and create something truly special. With his newfound caution and focus, Molyneux is ready to make a lasting impact on the gaming industry once again.
