The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Maintains Top Spot in UK Boxed Charts
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has secured its second consecutive week at the top of the UK boxed charts, despite experiencing a 73% decline in sales compared to the previous week. Although this drop may seem significant, it is not uncommon for a highly anticipated game that achieves substantial first-week sales. Upon its release last week, the game became the largest boxed launch of the year. After just two weeks on the market, Tears of the Kingdom has surpassed Link's Awakening on Switch and Ocarina of Time 3D on 3DS to become the sixth best-selling Zelda game in UK history. This week, LEGO 2K Drive is the sole new release, entering the charts at No.7. While the game's launch may not be massive, its proximity to the Zelda release likely had an impact. However, LEGO games are typically known for their long-term sales, and there is ample opportunity for this game to grow over time. In terms of physical sales, 37% of LEGO 2K Drive's sales were on PS5, 31% on Nintendo Switch, 18% on Xbox, and 14% on PS4. A price promotion on Pokémon Scarlet by Amazon has propelled the game back into the Top Ten, with Scarlet rising 12 places to No.6 due to a 124% increase in sales. Regarding the Zelda series, Tears of the Kingdom's predecessor, Breath of the Wild, remains at No.8 with a 21% increase in sales over the previous week. Meanwhile, Skyward Sword HD is at No.14 with a 342% surge in sales week-on-week, as the Wii remaster was available for £15 at UK supermarket Asda. The GfK UK Boxed Top Ten for the week ending May 20, 2023, is as follows:
