Hogwarts Legacy Regains Top Spot in UK Boxed Charts Following PS4 and Xbox One Release

The recent launch of Hogwarts Legacy on PS4 and Xbox One has propelled the game back to the top of the UK boxed charts, reclaiming its position as the best-selling title. Although the launch numbers on PS4 and Xbox One were not as impressive as those on PS5 and Xbox Series S and X, the game still achieved the fourth largest release of the year, surpassing Dead Island 2 but falling behind Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and the Resident Evil 4 remake. As a result, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's brief reign at the top of the UK boxed charts has come to an end, with the game experiencing a significant 68% decline in sales week-on-week. Interestingly, the physical launch of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor saw a 30% decrease compared to its predecessor, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, in 2019. However, when digital sales are included, the game's launch sales actually increased by 30% over its predecessor, with digital accounting for nearly two-thirds of the game's total sales. The rest of the top five sees Dead Island 2 dropping to third place with a 51% decline in sales, while Mario Kart 8: Deluxe holds steady at fourth and FIFA 23 rounds out the top five with a 4% decrease in sales week-on-week. Minecraft Legends, released just three weeks ago, manages to remain in the top ten at tenth place, with a modest 2% decline in sales week-on-week. The GfK UK Boxed Top Ten for the week ending May 6, 2023, is as follows: Last Week This Week Title 5 1 Hogwarts Legacy 1 2 Star Wars Jedi: Survivor 2 3 Dead Island 2 4 4 Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 3 5 FIFA 23 6 6 Super Mario Odyssey 11 7 WWE 2K23 16 8 Grand Theft Auto 5 9 9 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 8 10 Minecraft Legends
