Hogwarts Legacy Edges Out Metroid Prime Remastered for Top Spot in UK Boxed Charts

For the fourth consecutive week, Hogwarts Legacy maintains its grip on the top spot in the UK physical retail charts, despite experiencing a 30% decline in sales from the previous week. Metroid Prime Remastered from Nintendo poses the greatest challenge to Hogwarts Legacy, narrowly missing the top spot by a mere 1,000 units. Initially launched digitally in early February, Metroid Prime Remastered has been available for download for nearly a month, yet it still manages to achieve the fourth largest physical launch in the series, with sales of the boxed version only 45% lower than the original 2002 release. Metroid Prime Remastered stands as the second largest physical release of the year to date, surpassing both the Dead Space remake and Fire Emblem Engage. Although Nintendo does not disclose digital sales figures, the surprise launch strategy appears to have been effective. Another new entry this week is Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty from Koei Tecmo, which debuts at number eight. Notably, 96% of its physical retail sales were on PlayStation platforms, albeit with low overall boxed sales. A clearer picture of its performance will emerge once digital data becomes available. Scars Above, from Prime Matter, enters the physical charts at number 22. Among last week's new releases, Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe drops from number three to six following a 44% decline in week-on-week sales, while Octopath Traveller 2 falls from number six to 14 after a 45% sales decrease. Atomic Heart, from Focus Home Interactive, slips from number seven to 25 due to a 69% sales drop. In the rest of the top five, FIFA 23 drops to number three despite a 6% sales increase, while God of War Ragnarok, a popular PS5 bundle, holds steady at number four with a 4% sales improvement. Mario Kart 8: Deluxe remains at number five, with an 8% rise in sales. Here is the GfK UK Boxed Top Ten for the week ending March 4, 2023:
