Sonic Frontiers and Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope Reclaim Top Ten Spots in UK Boxed Charts
The UK boxed chart leading up to Christmas Day has seen minimal changes. FIFA 23 retained its No.1 position, experiencing a 16% boost in sales. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and God of War: Ragnarok followed closely, with sales rising by 2% and falling by 7%, respectively. Mario Kart 8: Deluxe held steady at No.4, despite a 4% decline, while Pokémon Violet and Nintendo Switch Sports maintained their positions with sales dropping by 8% and remaining flat, respectively. A notable shift in the chart is the re-entry of Sonic Frontiers at No.7, driven by promotional offers that have reduced its price to under £32 in UK retail. The Nintendo Switch version was the top-selling edition of the game last week. Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope has also benefited from discounts, re-entering the chart at No.9 with a 50% surge in sales. The game's weekly sales have more than tripled over the past two weeks, thanks to deals that have lowered its price to around £30. Interestingly, Mario + Rabbids' biggest competitor is its predecessor, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. The 2017 original has consistently ranked in the Top 20 in recent months, largely due to its affordability, with prices under £15. This week, the Ubisoft title is at No.15. Recent releases have seen mixed results. The Callisto Protocol has dropped out of the Top 20 to No.22, with a 25% decline in sales. Need for Speed: Unbound has maintained its position at No.28, with a 4% increase in sales. Meanwhile, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion has plummeted 22 places to No.30, following a 76% decline in sales during its second week. The GfK UK Boxed Top Ten for the week ending December 24 is as follows: Last Week This Week Title 1 1 FIFA 23 2 2 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 3 3 God of War: Ragnarok 4 4 Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 5 5 Pokémon Violet 6 6 Nintendo Switch Sports 11 7 Sonic Frontiers 7 8 Pokémon Scarlet 14 9 Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope 9 10 Minecraft: Switch Edition Stay up-to-date with the latest news by signing up for the GI Daily
