God of War Ragnarok Reclaims Top Spot in UK Boxed Charts

Following a 32% surge in weekly sales, Sony's God of War Ragnarok has regained its position as the top-selling game in the UK boxed charts. The popular action-adventure title jumped two spots to reclaim the number one position, largely due to the increased availability of PS5 consoles in UK retail stores. Additionally, the game is included in a PS5 hardware bundle, further boosting its sales. Meanwhile, last week's top-selling game, FIFA 23, has dropped to second place with an 18% decline in weekly sales. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has also slipped one spot to third place, experiencing a 14% decrease in sales. Pokémon Violet has risen one spot to fourth place, despite a 12% drop in weekly sales. However, it has swapped places with Mario Kart 8: Deluxe, which has fallen to fifth place with a 32% decline in sales. The latter's prominent feature in Switch hardware bundles during Black Friday and Cyber Monday likely contributed to its sales. A new release has entered the charts, with the boxed version of Cuphead from Iam8bit debuting at number 18. The previous week's top new release, The Callisto Protocol, has dropped from sixth to 12th place due to a 69% decline in weekly sales. Need for Speed: Unbound, which had a disappointing first week, has fallen from 17th to 19th place, although its sales only decreased by 13%, a relatively modest decline for a game's second week. Just Dance 2023 has experienced a notable rise, jumping three spots to 11th place. The Ubisoft game, released two weeks ago, has seen a 17% improvement in weekly sales, contributing to its ascent up the charts. The Super Mario series has also seen a surge in sales, with six games in the series experiencing increased sales. These include Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle (15th, up 6%), New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe (16th, up 49%), Mario Party Superstars (17th, up 22%), Super Mario Odyssey (25th, up 30%), Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (32nd, up 17%), and Mario Strikers Charged (36th, up 8%). Even Luigi's Mansion 3 has seen a 10% increase in sales, placing it at 30th.
