New Directors On Board for Metal Gear Solid Movie Adaptation
The Metal Gear Solid film project, backed by Sony, has gained fresh momentum with the addition of directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, known for their work on Final Destination: Bloodlines, replacing Jordan Vogt-Roberts who was initially attached to the project in 2014. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Lipovsky and Stein are set to helm the adaptation, expressing their enthusiasm for bringing the iconic game to the big screen. "Metal Gear Solid was a landmark achievement in the world of video games, offering a cinematic experience that redefined the medium," they stated. "We feel deeply honored and excited to bring Hideo Kojima's beloved characters and the unforgettable Metal Gear Solid universe to life." Sanford Panitch, President of Sony Pictures' Motion Picture Group, also shared his thoughts on the new directors, saying, "Zach and Adam are exceptional storytellers with a mastery of visuals and suspense, and they are among the most impressive directors and producers in the industry today. "With their work spanning across multiple film labels within our company, we are delighted to provide them a home and welcome them to the Sony family." The journey of the Metal Gear Solid film adaptation began when Hideo Kojima announced the project at E3 2006. After several years of dormancy, the project regained traction in 2012 with Avi Arad, former CEO of Marvel, coming on board as a producer. More recently, in 2020, there were indications that Oscar Isaac was slated to portray the role of Solid Snake.
