Xbox Game Pass Pricing Under Review Due to High Costs
According to reports, Microsoft Gaming CEO Asha Sharma has acknowledged that the current pricing of Xbox Game Pass is no longer sustainable for players, indicating a need for adjustment. An internal memo reveals that Sharma is seeking to establish a more favorable value proposition for the service. The company plans to transform Game Pass into a more adaptable system over time, allowing for experimentation and learning. This development comes after Xbox raised the price of Game Pass by up to 50% last year, aiming to enhance its offerings by providing more value. Microsoft's director of gaming and platform communications, Dustin Blackwell, noted that the price increases were intended to bolster the service's value, and the company is committed to listening to player feedback. However, it was later clarified that existing customers with auto-renewing plans in certain regions, including Germany, Ireland, South Korea, Poland, and India, would be exempt from the price hikes, unless they cancel or repurchase their plan.
