NZXT Settles Class-Action Lawsuit Over Alleged Scam for $3.4 Million

NZXT, a prominent PC rental company, has agreed to a $3.45 million settlement in a class-action lawsuit. The lawsuit, which involved 19,322 customers, claimed that NZXT's Flex PC rental program was a deceptive scheme. Customers alleged that the company engaged in bait-and-switch tactics, advertising PCs with specific components but providing lower-quality alternatives. The lawsuit also claimed that NZXT misrepresented the terms of the program, including the absence of contracts and cancellation fees, leading customers to believe it was a rent-to-own agreement. NZXT had described Flex as a 'first of its kind gaming PC subscription service' with 'no hassle returns, no hidden fees, and regular upgrades' without a long-term commitment. The settlement, which includes debt forgiveness, a cash settlement fund, and PC retention relief, is subject to final judge approval. Eligible customers who have paid into the program for two years or more may be allowed to keep their PCs.
