Unveiling the Top 100 Most Influential Women in the UK Gaming Industry

In 2014, the GamesIndustry.biz team compiled a list of 100 influential women in the UK gaming industry, showcasing exceptional talent and creativity. However, the landscape has shifted dramatically over the past five years. This year, we received over 500 nominations for more than 450 women, thanks to the overwhelming response from the gaming community and our sponsor, Amiqus. The nominees were so impressive that we invited every single one to our celebratory party at EGX Rezzed, courtesy of Amiqus. The judging process was highly competitive, with over 300 nominees receiving at least one vote. In fact, a mere single vote separated about 40 women from making the final cut, demonstrating just how close the competition was. While we are confident in the list's accuracy, we cannot claim it to be definitive due to the high number of deserving candidates. To maintain editorial integrity, we excluded anyone working on the GI 100 from the list, resulting in a few notable omissions, such as Amiqus' Liz Prince. The progress made in just five years is remarkable, yet there is still much work to be done to diversify the gaming industry. We need more women involved in creating, promoting, and supporting video games. Perhaps, in the future, such lists will no longer be necessary. We solicited nominations from the gaming industry, promoting the campaign through GamesIndustry.biz and our social channels, and directly contacting companies, trade bodies, and industry groups. We received over 450 submissions and enlisted the help of previous GI 100 winners to narrow down the list, ensuring a fair balance of market sectors, genders, and nationalities. Our judging panel included Cat Channon, Caroline Miller, Veronique Lallier, Gina Jackson, Marie-Claire Isaaman, Liz Prince, Carl Cavers, Tim Heaton, Debbie Bestwick, Michael French, Imre Jele, Gavin Raeburn, Kirsty Rigden, Des Gayle, Craig Duncan, Saad Choudri, Mark Turpin, Ian Livingstone, Keza MacDonald, and the GamesIndustry.biz team, among others.
