GamesIndustry.biz to Cover Gamescom Latam in São Paulo, Brazil

GamesIndustry.biz is set to travel to Brazil to provide coverage of Gamescom Latam, taking place in São Paulo from April 29 to May 3. The event will be featured in a special episode of the GI Podcast, along with a series of articles based on news and interviews from the show. The Brazilian game developers association, Abragames, will host a showcase of 36 games developed in Brazil, including Talaka, a game inspired by Afro-Brazilian folklore and published by Acclaim. Other initiatives hosted by Abragames include the XDev Executive Bootcamp, business speed meetings, industry talks, and the Abragames Pitch Arena. According to Rodrigo Terra, president of Abragames, 'Brazil is entering a crucial phase in establishing itself as a major global game development hub, and our presence at Gamescom Latam 2026 showcases the strength of our national ecosystem.' The event will also feature a panel discussion with Brendan Greene, the creator of PUBG, and a performance by David Wise, a renowned composer, alongside the Brazilian band Gameboys. Over 400 games will be exhibited at Gamescom Latam, with the BIG Awards taking place on the opening night, featuring finalists such as Moonlighter 2 and MIO: Memories in Orbit. Gamescom Latam was first held in 2024 and saw a 30% growth in 2025, reaching 130,000 visitors, despite some backlash from exhibitors last year.
