Expert Insights from the Best Places To Work Awards Winners
The Best Places To Work Awards have undergone significant growth since their inception 18 months ago, evolving from a simple online feature to a prestigious standalone awards ceremony in Central London. The event brought together numerous outstanding companies, all striving to enhance the games industry. The primary objective of these awards is to recognize and celebrate excellence in the workplace, while also addressing areas that require improvement, such as diversity, work-life balance, and job security. The awards also serve as a platform for education, providing participants with valuable employee feedback to facilitate positive change. Our goal is for the Best Places To Work Awards to contribute to creating a better work environment in the UK games industry. During the judging process, we gathered feedback from nearly 2,500 games industry employees, with the majority expressing a sense of purpose and happiness in their work. However, areas for improvement were also identified, including gender diversity, staffing levels, and training opportunities. To address these concerns, we will be publishing a series of features and discussions on Gamesindustry.biz. In the meantime, we invite you to read our interviews with the 19 award-winning companies, all of which achieved an overall score of 85% or higher. The awards consisted of two surveys: one for employers, which assessed benefits, pay, and diversity, and another for employees, which evaluated their experiences with management, culture, and technical support. The employer survey accounted for 25% of the final score, with employee responses making up the remaining 75%.
