Capcom Upgrades Financial Outlook for FY25 Following Strong Performance of Resident Evil: Requiem

Capcom has updated its FY25 financial projections, driven by the better-than-expected results of Resident Evil: Requiem. The developer now forecasts net sales to reach ¥195.3 billion ($1.22 billion), representing a 2.8% increase, and net income to reach ¥54.5 billion ($342 million), marking a 6.9% rise from the previous forecast. Additionally, Capcom reported a surge in sales of its catalogue titles from prominent series due to their enduring popularity, as well as impressive results from its Amusement, Arcade Operations, and Amusement Equipment divisions. The company had initially expected catalogue sales to account for 85.2% of its sales this fiscal year, fueled by the success of Monster Hunter Wilds. However, following the release of Requiem in February, the latest Resident Evil installment is expected to have a significant impact on catalogue title sales. Data from analysts shared with GamesIndustry.biz indicates that sequels like Requiem can lead to increased sales of earlier games in the series. For instance, frequent promotions and discounts for Resident Evil Village after Requiem's announcement resulted in a notable increase in sales and engagement for the title. Capcom attributed its improved financial performance early in the year to Requiem, with operating income rising 75.1% and net income increasing 68%. The company stated that Requiem's announcement 'drove sales growth for titles in the same series, led by Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Village.' Requiem exceeded five million units in five days and recently surpassed seven million copies. The ninth mainline installment also topped the US charts in February, with launch sales 60% higher than Village.
