Spiders, Developer of Greedfall, Faces Imminent Closure
The studio behind Greedfall: The Dying World, Spiders, has announced its impending closure. This news follows reports from French media outlet Origami, as cited by Eurogamer, stating that Nacon's failure to secure a buyer for the studio led to this outcome. Spiders has since confirmed the closure, expressing regret for the lack of communication over the past month and acknowledging that the company is being liquidated, effectively ceasing all operations. The planned DLC for their game will still be released by Nacon, after which the studio's activities will come to an end. The team expressed gratitude to their supporters and directed any further inquiries or issues to Nacon, as they will no longer be able to respond. The future of support for Greedfall: The Dying World, which was released on March 10, remains uncertain. According to Origami, citing sources close to the matter, the decision to liquidate the studio is seen as a mere formality after the cancellation of their project codenamed Dark last year. Following this, Spiders focused on completing GreedFall 2 and developing a new pitch to secure their future, with staff updating their resumes and engaging in self-study sessions instead of working on new productions. This development comes after Nacon subsidiaries, including Spiders, filed for insolvency last month.
