Roblox Sees Significant Q1 Growth, Adjusts Full-Year Projections Amid Enhanced Safety Features

Roblox has announced robust revenue and bookings growth in its first-quarter financial results. However, the company has revised its annual growth forecast downward due to the implementation of mandatory age verification and new safety protocols. Key financial highlights include: - Revenue: $1.4 billion, representing a 39% increase - Bookings: $1.4 billion, up 43% - Net losses: $248 million, compared to $216 million in the same quarter last year The company experienced significant user and engagement growth, with average daily active users rising 35% year-over-year to 132 million and monthly unique payers increasing 52% to 31 million. Roblox introduced mandatory age checks in November, which were expanded globally in January, and subsequently launched age-based accounts and enhanced parental controls to create age-appropriate experiences. Following a settlement with the state of Nevada, Roblox agreed to pay over $12 million and implement additional child-safety measures, including nationwide age verification. As a result, Roblox has adjusted its growth outlook for 2026, now expecting full-year bookings growth of 8% to 12% and revenue growth of 20% to 25%. Notably, users aged 18 and older accounted for 26% of verified daily active users after the introduction of age checks. In the US, daily active users and hours played for the 18-34 age group saw a 50% year-over-year increase in Q1, surpassing other age cohorts. To expand its audience among adults, Roblox is introducing new developer programs aimed at supporting creators who want to build and scale on the platform. The company has also announced a 42% increase in its Developer Exchange rate for eligible games, effective in June, for spending by age-verified US players 18 and older. Additionally, Roblox has launched its new subscription service, Roblox Plus, offering discounts on in-game items and avatars, among other benefits, for $5 per month.
