Ubisoft Forecasts Strong Financial Results from Black Flag Remake, Despite Competitive Market
According to Ubisoft's CFO, Frédérick Duguet, the company anticipates that the Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced remake will yield strong financial results due to reduced production costs. However, Ubisoft does not intend to increase its Q2 guidance, citing a competitive market and the release of its own titles. During a recent earnings call, Duguet discussed the advantages of producing remakes, including the reuse of existing assets, lower marketing expenses, and a lower price point compared to new games. He noted that the company expects the remake to deliver superior financial performance, with a positive direct contribution starting from the current quarter. When asked about the upcoming Rayman remake, Duguet stated that it would attract a new generation of players, offering an improved experience with additional gameplay features and a revamped 3D scope. Meanwhile, Ubisoft's CEO, Yves Guillemot, commented on Sony's decision to discontinue physical discs for new PlayStation games, suggesting that it could help grow the market and make consoles more accessible.
