Gamescom 2026 has achieved a major milestone, with its exhibition area being completely sold out for the first time. According to the organizers, the demand from exhibitors is higher than ever before, prompting them to consider expanding the exhibition space for next year to cater to the growing demand and enhance the overall visitor experience. Felix Falk, managing director of Game and co-organizer of Gamescom, stated, "Gamescom 2026 is set to be the largest ever, with exhibitor demand reaching an all-time high. Fans can expect a packed program, both on-site in Cologne and via livestream worldwide." The event will feature highlights such as Gamescom Opening Night Live, the expanded Gamescom Awesome Indies Show, and the debut of Gamescom GDQ, generating excitement among attendees weeks in advance. Recently, the organizers, Koelnmesse and Game, announced a new partnership with IGN for the Gamescom Awesome Indies Show, building on their long-standing relationship. This year's Gamescom Congress, focused on Playing Field Democracy and The Games Effect, will explore the positive impact of video games on democratic education and their role as a driving force for innovation across various fields. The congress will take place on August 27, as part of the larger Gamescom event, which runs from August 26-30 and is preceded by Gamescom Dev, a developer-focused event, from August 23-25.
