UK Games Fund Unveils Largest Ever Cohort of Indie Developers to Receive Funding of Up to £100,000

The UK Games Fund has announced its most extensive group of funded companies since its inception in 2015, with 29 independent studios across the UK receiving grants of up to £100,000 through the expanded Prototype Fund. According to UK Games Fund Director Kirsty Gibson, "Following the reopening of applications for the Prototype Fund in April, we were met with a strong response from highly talented teams developing ambitious and innovative projects." This funding enables independent studios to develop original IP, drive project advancement, create new job opportunities, and enhance their ability to attract further investment. The selected studios to receive Prototype Fund support include Plai, Dusky Leaf Games, Fish Tin Games, Space Colony Studios, Studio NX, LunaMi Games, Play XD, Draknek & Friends, Toyumi, Kaizen Game Works, Team Folon, Meteor Pixel, No Ghost, Sectordub, Nyamyam, Tree Den Games, Knights of Borria, Perchang, Talha and Jack Co, YumYumYukYuk, Ursa Minus, 276 Productions, EdCorp, Nullpointer, Atypical Types, Glowfrog Games, Seventh Disorder, Robust Games, and Brain Rack. Toyumi co-founder and CTO Sofie Marien stated, "With this funding, we can bring our ambitious vision to life and deliver the most personalized life sim experience players have ever encountered." The funding is part of the UK government's Industrial Strategy and the Creative Industries Sector Plan, which allocated an additional £28.5 million to the UK Games Fund to be distributed over the next three years and committed £1.5 million to the London Games Festival. The funding comprises three tracks: the Prototype Fund, the Starter Fund offering grants of up to £20,000, and the Content Fund providing up to £250,000 to support project completion and studio growth.
