Krafton Sees 94.9% Revenue Surge to $889.1m in Q2, Driven by Subnautica and PUBG

Krafton reported a significant surge in revenue for the second quarter, with a 94.9% increase to ₩1.29 trillion ($889.1 million), and a 67% rise in operating profit to ₩410.9 billion ($283.1 million). The growth was primarily driven by the success of Subnautica 2 and the ongoing expansion of the PUBG franchise. Subnautica 2, which launched in Early Access in May, sold over five million units within 22 days, while first-half revenue for the Subnautica IP reached ₩232.5 billion ($160.2 million). Krafton also settled a lawsuit with the former leadership team of Unknown Worlds, agreeing to pay a $250 million bonus. The company's PUBG revenue saw a 25% year-over-year increase, with the franchise continuing to expand through the development of a central gameplay platform and cultural collaborations with other IPs and brands. Krafton's PC revenue surpassed ₩500 billion ($344.4 million) for the first time, driven by Subnautica and PUBG, while console revenue rose 143.3% year-over-year to ₩23.8 billion ($16.3 million) and mobile revenue increased by 5.5% to ₩451 billion ($310.7 million). Looking ahead, Krafton plans to announce five new titles at Gamescom, all scheduled for release by 2027, including a new PUBG project, No Law, Project Zeta, Age Twisters, and Tarae: The Unbound. The company has 26 games in development, with 12 set to launch within the next two years. According to Krafton CEO CH Kim, the company will remain focused on its core gaming business as it begins to execute the production of new titles, while expanding the PUBG IP franchise and creating new franchise IPs through its title pipeline and creative leadership.
