Unity Introduces Engine Support Exclusively for Netflix Games
Unity has unveiled specialized support for Netflix, enabling developers to seamlessly release titles across the platform's ecosystem. The collaboration between Unity and Netflix has been longstanding, with notable Unity-powered games including Black Mirror: Thronglets, Unhinged, and Squid Game: Unleashed. This dedicated support is designed to aid developers through cloud gaming optimization, simplified cross-platform development, and effortless game access for players. Notably, Night School Studio, a Netflix subsidiary, has utilized Unity's engine for its recent game releases. The studio previously highlighted the benefits of Unity technologies in Black Mirror: Thronglets, particularly the physics engine for rapid prototyping. Following the recent announcement of Unity 7, set to enter beta testing in December and launch fully in Q1 2027, the new engine promises a seamless transition with its architecture, ensuring that teams can adopt the update without disrupting their workflows.
