Digital Schoolhouse Collaborates with Roblox to Introduce In-Class Game Development Tools

Digital Schoolhouse, a UKIE-backed non-profit organization, has formed a partnership with Roblox to create a range of free educational tools. These tools are designed to teach students how to develop Roblox games within a classroom setting. The program includes curriculum-aligned workshops, interactive lesson plans, and access to Roblox Studio. The educational version of Roblox operates in a closed environment, under the supervision of teachers, and an offline version is available for schools with limited internet access. Students will participate in offline workshops to learn game development skills, pitch their ideas, and create games from scratch on the Roblox platform. The course focuses on practical skills such as game design, scripting in Luau, and AI best practices. The lesson plans are aligned with national computing curriculum frameworks and will be made available as open-source materials on the Digital Schoolhouse website. A teacher toolkit will also be provided, featuring safeguarding guidance, curriculum alignment support, and parent-facing materials. The program is designed for teacher-managed classroom settings, prioritizing supervised learning and safeguarding. This collaboration aims to provide high-quality educational experiences, addressing concerns around child safety on the Roblox platform.
