Throne and Liberty MMORPG Transitions to NC from Amazon Game Studios
The global publishing rights for Throne and Liberty are being transferred from Amazon Game Studios to NC, formerly known as NCSoft. NC aims to consolidate the game into a unified online service, with the goal of completing this migration by the fourth quarter of 2026. FirstSpark Games, an NC subsidiary, is working closely with Amazon to ensure a seamless transition of technical and operational services, without disrupting the gameplay environment or assets across all platforms. Player account information will remain unchanged across platforms, including Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and NC's Purple cross-platform gaming service. In a statement, NC expressed its commitment to the game's long-term success, stating, "We have always believed in this world, and we remain deeply committed to its success." FirstSpark Games CEO Moonyoung Choi emphasized the importance of taking a more direct role in global publishing, saying, "We're thrilled to lead the next chapter of Throne and Liberty directly as NC." Throne and Liberty was launched in October 2024 and achieved significant success, attracting over three million players in its first week. However, Amazon Game Studios' MMO portfolio has experienced a decline in recent years, with the shutdown of New World: Aeternum and King of Meat, as well as the cancellation of its Lord of the Rings MMO.
