New Layoffs Strike Witcher Spin-Off Project Sirius

A recent update from CD Projekt Red has revealed that the development team for Project Sirius, a multiplayer spin-off of The Witcher series, has undergone a significant restructuring. As of August 12, 18 developers who were previously working on the project have either been laid off or offered the opportunity to apply for different roles within the company. This adjustment is intended to align the team size with the project's current development needs. The affected individuals include four staff members in Boston and five in Warsaw who will be leaving the company, while nine others will be invited to participate in internal recruitment processes for potential positions on other CD Projekt Red projects. As of April 30, the multiplayer game had a team of around 83 people, but this number is now estimated to be closer to 60, representing a decrease of approximately 28%. This development comes after CD Projekt Red's initial announcement of Project Sirius in October 2022 as a cooperative and single-player Witcher spin-off, developed by The Molasses Flood, a Boston-based studio acquired by CDPR in 2021. The project underwent a revision in 2023, accompanied by 29 layoffs, and The Molasses Flood was fully integrated into CDPR in April 2025. This news follows a similar announcement from Supermassive Games, which also announced a third round of layoffs that could affect up to 75 positions.
