Raw Fury Co-Founder Revives Stumpysquid, Seeks Partners for New Micro-Strategy Game

Gordon Van Dyke, co-founder of Swedish indie publisher Raw Fury, has announced the revival of Stumpysquid, the original developer behind the hit strategy game Kingdom: Two Crowns. Following Raw Fury's acquisition by Altor, Van Dyke retained ownership of Stumpysquid and has now resurrected the studio to develop a new micro-strategy survival game. The game promises to deliver a distinct experience while maintaining the intuitive design principles that made Kingdom: Two Crowns a success. Van Dyke shared that the concept for the new game dates back to 2013 and involves building bases to survive in unique environments. With a current team of four, Van Dyke plans to expand to six or seven members once investment is secured, with the goal of self-publishing the title. The studio is seeking approximately €1.8 million in funding to cover development and publishing costs. Van Dyke has already initiated conversations with potential partners and investors, showcasing a playable prototype to garner interest. He emphasized the importance of a strong pitch and a playable build in securing funding. Having parted ways with Raw Fury, Van Dyke is focused on creating a new IP and running an independent studio, building on the micro-strategy design pillars he helped establish with the Kingdom series.
