Casey Hudson Launches Arcanaut Studios, a New Canadian Gaming Venture

Veteran game developer Casey Hudson, formerly of BioWare, is at the helm of Arcanaut Studios, a newly formed Canadian game development studio focused on creating a Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic game. Hudson, known for his work on the Knights of the Old Republic series, co-founded Arcanaut Studios in July 2025, alongside key team members Chris Bain, Cordy Rierson, and Ryan Hoyle. Speaking about the studio's vision, Hudson reflected on his past work, stating, "Our goal with the original KOTOR was to craft an unparalleled Star Wars experience, incorporating all the elements we, as fans, had always dreamed of." He added, "Now, 25 years later, our ambitions remain just as high." Hudson described Fate of the Old Republic as an opportunity to redefine the Star Wars gaming experience, leveraging cutting-edge technology and an all-new narrative designed to deliver the perfect blend of player agency and immersion. Following a 16-year tenure at BioWare, punctuated by a brief departure and subsequent return, Hudson left the company in 2021 to co-found Humanoid Studios, which ceased operations last year, ending development on an untitled sci-fi project.
