Film and TV Adaptations Announced for Wobbly Life

The popular open-world sandbox game Wobbly Life, developed by Rubber Band Games, is set to be adapted into film and television productions. This move follows a partnership between the UK-based independent game developer and Prime Universe Films, a studio known for its work on the Hitman film franchise and the forthcoming TV series. Prime Universe Films has a history of adapting successful properties, having previously worked on two Hitman films featuring Timothy Olyphant and Rupert Friend, with the company's CEO, Adrian Askarieh, serving as executive producer on the Hitman TV series currently in production. The partnership between Rubber Band Games and Prime Universe Films was initially announced in 2017, in collaboration with IO Interactive. Askarieh expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, "The rapid growth of Wobbly Life demonstrates the strength of its universe, and I'm excited to collaborate with RubberBandGames to bring it to the big and small screens." He further emphasized, "This world has a distinct tone, identity, and characters that are well-suited for storytelling across multiple formats." Initially launched in 2020 as a solo indie project, Wobbly Life has since evolved into a global franchise, with over 2.8 million units sold worldwide and a total of six million players across all platforms. By 2025, player engagement had surpassed 60 million hours. Tom Dunn, founder of Rubber Band Games, attributed the game's success to its community, saying, "From the outset, the success of Wobbly Life has been driven by the community. The team and I have been astonished by the game's huge growth this year, and we're thrilled to see Wobbly Life take its first steps into film and TV. We anticipate 2026 to be even bigger." In a 2023 interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Dunn discussed the game's immediate success and the formation of the core development team after initially creating the title as a solo project.
