Halo x Portal-Inspired FPS Splitgate 2 to Relaunch Next Month After Overhaul

The beta testing phase for Splitgate 2, the troubled free-to-play FPS from 1047 Games, will come to a close on December 4. Initially released in May 2025, the game was marred by controversy, including the introduction of a 'Make FPS Great Again' hat and a pricey $145 cosmetic bundle. This led to significant backlash and a series of layoffs within the development team. In response, the game was reverted to beta status, allowing the team to reassess and refine the gameplay experience. Following an extensive retuning process, with regular updates and feedback from players, 1047 Games is now preparing for a relaunch. Although the exact date remains uncertain, the company has indicated that more information will be forthcoming in December.
