Rockstar North Staff Demand Reinstatement of Fired Colleagues in Letter Signed by Over 200 Employees
More than 200 Rockstar North employees have put their names to a statement condemning the recent termination of 31 colleagues, which they claim is a clear case of union busting. The letter, handed to senior management, urges the immediate reinstatement of the dismissed staff members, who were let go on October 30. At the time, the Independent Workers' Union of Great Britain accused Rockstar of targeting union members, as all affected workers were part of the union. Rockstar has countered that the dismissals were due to the leaking of confidential information and had no connection to union activities. The dispute has sparked protests outside Rockstar North and Take-Two Interactive offices in London and Edinburgh, with further demonstrations planned, including a rally in Paris and a protest at Holyrood in Edinburgh. The issue has also been raised in the House of Commons, with Liberal Democrat MP Christine Jardine expressing support for the affected workers and calling for action to prevent similar incidents. The IWGB has filed formal legal claims against Rockstar, alleging trade union victimisation and blacklisting, after the company reportedly declined to meet with the union to resolve the matter.
