PlayStation Portal Emerges as Top Device for PS5 Remote Play
According to a Sony executive, the PlayStation Portal has surpassed other devices, including mobile, PC, PS5, and PS4, to become the most popular choice for PlayStation 5 Remote Play. In an interview with TechRadar, Takuro Fushimi, senior manager of product management at Sony, revealed that the Portal has seen significant engagement from users, outpacing non-users in terms of involvement. Fushimi noted that prior to the Portal's launch, there were concerns about demand due to its unique nature as a dedicated Remote Play device. However, the community's response has been overwhelmingly positive. This development follows the Portal's largest update, which enabled PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers to stream select games directly from PS servers, eliminating the need for a PS5 console connection. The update, which has been in beta for a year, allows players to stream games such as Astro Bot, Borderlands 4, Ghost of Yōtei, and Cyberpunk 2077. Sony recently released its financial results for the first half of the fiscal year, reporting increased sales in its Game & Network Services division. The company also announced that the PS5 has sold 84.2 million units lifetime, with an additional 3.9 million units sold during the second quarter.
